From Wikiped...They are called Stockbridge dampers.

From Wikipedia:
---------------
Stockbridge dampers are added to the transmission lines a metre or two from the tower. They consist of a short length of cable clamped in place parallel to the line itself and weighted at each end. The size and dimensions are carefully designed to damp any buildup of mechanical oscillation of the lines that could be induced by mechanical vibration most likely that caused by wind. Without them it's possible for a standing wave to become established that grows in magnitude and destroys the line or the tower.DaveDhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02195684435234349911noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3992602348026873746.post-74441752530014470382019-09-04T18:08:48.596+01:002019-09-04T18:08:48.596+01:00We passed the beehives earlier this year - I used ...We passed the beehives earlier this year - I used the binoculars as we weren't sure what they were! and I saw bees, so I hope they are still occupied!
Debbynb Bonjourhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09570964751076622402noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3992602348026873746.post-86552136677687610002019-09-04T18:04:21.656+01:002019-09-04T18:04:21.656+01:00They are known as Stockbridge Dampers used to redu...They are known as Stockbridge Dampers used to reduce vibration in high wind conditions.John Fosternoreply@blogger.com
