Middlewich Wednesday 19 December 2018

Last night we ate in The Old Broken Cross, a very friendly pub. They specialise in burgers but also have lots of other choices on their menu. By the time we left the rain had stopped and we have not seen any more since then.

Today has been a day for Kingfishers, we have seen 5 or 6. The first just sat as we passed and then we had to dive for fish ahead of us, the rest were flying and 2 of the sightings may have been the same one, but even five in a hour and a half is not bad going.DSCF0755

We set off at 10 am cruising into the low sun. One of the first things we saw were these signs with footprints on them, I have often seen them in this area and closer inspection gave the name "Cheshire Hike" its an annual event for Scouts held over a weekend in April. Full details by clicking the middle photo.

Half a hour later we were back at our marina, so we pulled in and moored next to nb. Kelpie while we drove to Northwich to stock up on Christmas goodies. Once back on the boat we headed to Middlewich. The weather was great but felt a bit cooler than it actually was, we did see a boat on the move today, the first in 3 days, also very few moored boats, I expected more in Middlewich, but there is only 2 of us. We went up thought Big Lock and moored up by the kiddies playground at a little after 2 PM.

A new one for me today, I was unable to connect to the wifi with my MiFi and once the laptop and MiFi were talking I got a message saying more info required when I open my browser. It turned out there was a Firmware update for the MiFi and I couldn't get on line until I ether accepted or rejected it, so I said yes.

Today's Journeymap 03 5½miles, 1 lock in 2¼ hours.

Lucky you being boating again! We thought about it but we still have a lot to sort out here. I assume that kelpie was OK when you moored beside her. Enjoy your trip and I look foreard to reading your blog.
