Blue Lias Friday 11 September 2015

The first boat went through at about 7 am this morning  so we set off in a convoy at about 9 am. As we travelled along the South Oxford we picked up more boats, luckily for us the ones in front carried straight on at Napton Junction, commonly know as Wigrams Turn, while we turned left, north on the Grand Union canal, About half way to Calcutt locks I spotted a boat coming behind us so we waited for them in the top lock, I was one of the boats we had passed moored outside The Bridge at Napton. All three locks were with us with boats coming up so it worked well, unfortunately they were only going as far as Ventnor Farm marina so after that we were on our own again. As we arrived at the top of the Stockton flight John and Margaret were there waiting for a boat to come up, so we tied the two boats together and John took them both down the flight while the three of us crewed working the locks. Arriving at The Blue Lias there were a number of boats already  so we topped up with water before winding and mooring on the outside of Andrew and Sheila for the weekend.

This will be the last posting until Monday when we will be on the move again.
