Grendon Atherstone flight

Not a bad drive with the traffic quite light and very few lorries on the road, arriving at the moorings a little after one pm. Someone had kindly re-moored our stern as the stern rope had broken, a little job for when we get back.
Fully aware of how early it gets dark at the moment we were away by ten past two, that included unloading and refilling the fresh water system. I drained it before we left and the temperature inside the boat dropped to –2°C inside the boat on the 1st December, –6°C outside.
The plan was to moor at the bottom of the Atherstone flight but the light was still good when we arrived so we decided to go up the first to locks, as it happened there was a boat coming down in number 10 so Diana opened 11 for them while I waited below. We are now moored between 9 and 10 for the night. About 10 minutes ago the water alarm went off indicating a leak at the pump, I disturb the pump when I drain down by letting air in the filter and this was the cause of the leak, so water off, pump filter joint and filter housing lid opened and reclose, tray dried out and all put back on again, lets hope it OK and we don’t get woken during the night.
