Ansty

A bit late getting away this morning, but when we did it was a still, bright, cold start and the frost in the shade hasn’t cleared all day. We did encounter some ice which surprised me, its not been very cold for very long, most was just cat ice but a good 5mmDSCF0018

around Clifton Cruisers and in places on to Rugby. We met quite a few boats in the course of the day but were surprised how quiet the moorings were at Rugby and Newbold. One of the boats we met was in Newbold tunnel and I picked up something on the prop as we passed each other. I tried several times

a touch of reverse, lots of reverse but it didn’t budge, pulled into the side and hand into ice cold water, what did I find, nothing. It must have dropped off when we stopped.
There are three bridges in the rugby area where they have murals on the offside wall, its a shame there wasn’t a plan to maintain them when they were installed, they are now all the worse it.

With the bright clear sky and no wind we had some lovely reflections on the canal.
Coming through the cutting just after All Oaks wood it looks as if the ground is still on the move at one of the land slips, the smaller of the two.DSCF0027

We continued out chilly journey to Ansty where there was plenty of room to moor for the night, I must say I don’t remember the motorway being so noisy in the past, maybe its the weather effecting things.
