We woke to rain so were in no hurry to craw out of bed, that and we had less than two ours traveling to do today. We could here engines but we were not by any roads, when we looked out there were vans parked just behind the towpath. it turns out CRT have a lets Fish event on at the junction.
By the time we set off it was light drizzle and that continued all the way. I dont know who is responsible for these little Moorhens but they are everywhere.
When you just have to accept people will use a different name for a bridge than the official one, it still says the proper name as you approach the bridge by water, but I think the street side name has changed.
Looking back at the steel stockists it looks rather good on the bend I thought.
At Blowers Green lock we had to wait for a hire boat coming up, looking at Park Head locks this notice gives the impression you have to book with the tunnel to pass this point. I cant remember what it is shrouded in white in the background, probably the new Metro line.
We chugged on round to Merry Hill where there were already several boats moored, we had to pass most of them before finding a spot long enough for us to get in. Since we have been here there have been a few more boats arrive, its also chucked it down with rain all afternoon.
I took the opportunity of an early finish and a warm engine to do an oil and filter change, it was 20 hours over due. I like to crack them off every 250 hours so the next will be 5500 on the clock .
4¼ miles, 1 lock in 1¾ hours
