Anderton

I got up for my 5-30 am wee I looked out of the porthole to see a full red rainbow, I had to take the photo through the porthole as I wasn’t going on deck in the buff.DSCF7898

By the time we got up it was raining and the chap behind asked if we were really going boating in this weather. We made our way down to Big Lock meeting a boat on the way so the only lock of the day was with us. It does look as if some people have ether come into the lock to fast or they surged forward hard as the lock filled.DSCF7899

Passing Orchard Marina not much has changed since last time we were this way, will it ever see boats and water again.DSCF7903

This piece of land is still up for sale beside the road and canal just before the Tata chemical works. It looks very tight to me to get a house on  that plot.DSCF7905

Immediately before the chemical work two new electricity pylons have been erected just off the line of the power cabled and it looks as if they are designed to bring the power lines down to ground level.DSCF7906

As we approach Anderton Marina we saw our first family of Cygnets, the swans have nested on this point all the years that we have been in the area.DSCF7908

I was going to stop at the services but there were already 4 boats there so we carried on through the bridge and moored up, with a plan to fill with water later when things are quieter. The next job was to contact CRT about a lift passage down to the river. Following the failure of one caisson on Friday they are at 50% and said they expected it to effect all boats booked until Wednesday, so I was surprised to get a booking for tomorrow morning. Later we carried out our plan to reverse back to the services and fill with water.
