Well we are off again, as we drove over from Suffolk the weather slowly warmed so we arrived at Alvecote three and a quarter hours later we were in bright sunshine. Car unloaded and lunch eaten we set off backwards out of the marine and with a light breeze following us it kept pushing the bows round. If you remember last time we came back I had to drive in bows first as the wind kept pushing us off the pontoon at the bows. Anyway or as we say in Suffolk any old road, we were off heading east by half two. We had only just left the marina when we met the first of five boats, the last one was just dropping down lock 11. We met one small boat under the railway bridge, Thankfully he dropped to tickover because after we had passed he opened her up and the water cooled exhaust blew water right onto the offside bank.
As I said there was a boat at lock 11 as we arrived, they had just finished filling it, so once they were clear in we went followed by 10 that had filled a bit to moor for the night just clear of the lock moorings on the straight.
5¼ miles, 2 locks in 2½ hours.
