Well it was quite cool last night -3.5° C but it warmed up quite a bit by this morning with the ice gone off the roof and the sun trying to break through the mist. Taking into account the weather turning cooler I backed up to the junction to top the water tank up, unfortunately there was a boat already there so we had bit of a wait, but we are not in a hurry. It was 11 am before our tank was full and the visibility started deteriorating with the sun trying its best to break through but not managing it.
We passed our first lot of "winter moorings" of the year, I do wonder if CRT chose them to make it hard for boaters. The ones at Sutton Road Bridge mean you have to cruise 1½ hrs north to wind before you can cruise another 1½ hrs back to Fazeley Junction to get water. Why ever didn't they put them before the winding hole? We passed a field with all the straw bails neatly covered in plastic, I expect this will be a one time used product.
Our target for today was just before where the Birmingham and Fazeley canal becomes the Coventry canal, the reason for this boundary has been told many times. We arrived just over 2 hours from setting off and finally got the boat somewhere near the bank without too much of a list.
Today's Journey5½ Miles 0 Locks in 2¼ hours.
