Stratford upon Avon Bancroft Basin

We have had a couple of night here in the basin and bit of a wonder round. Last night we ate at the Giggling Squid, one of a small chain of Thai restaurants but not one in Lowestoft unfortunately.. it was all over in 5 minutes and we continued walking back We got a bit wet on the way back to the boat, walked out of the restaurant and said what a lovely evening, 5 minutes later it fell down, we sheltered in a door way but the rain came down so hard the splashing soaked up to our knees.
The moorings over night were surprisingly quiet for being in a town.
Today we had lunch from a stall set up on the other side of the basin, there were numerous food stalls

A wander down the river bank in the afternoon to see what boats were about and there we found  another Harnser, a Steve Hudson one.IMG_20230803_143922

he chain ferry was doing a good trade, I estimate that its probably a little over 50 cranks of the handle to traverse the river.

There are a few plaques on the wall by the tail of the lock down onto the river commemorating the restoration of the canal.IMG_20230803_135902

This evening we decided to go out for dinner again, its not that often we are moored up in  a town, so after carefully examining menus at around lunch time we booked a table at Lambs on Sheep Street and I can say we weren't disappointed, it was first class and no more expensive than the chain establishments.
