I am please to say we didn’t hear a single moo this morning, it felt a bit warmer when we set off just before 10am but as the day went on it definitely felt quite a bit cooler and we even had a short shower of rain. The canal was very quiet and only saw one boat moving and we overtook them approaching Congleton, later they moored ahead or us below Bosley Locks.
As you can see it was quite pleasant with no breeze to start with, but the wind picked up as the day progressed.
Its interesting what some people have in their gardens, this one has a small heard of giraffe.
There is quite of collection of bridges beside the mill with Biddulph road bridge,Park Lane bridge and the Railway bridge all crossing the cut together.
You have to watch the north side of this bridge as the offside kinks over quite a bit. Its caught me out.
If your boat is longer than 40 foot I hope you dont need to get water at Buglawton Water Point as CRT have two boats moored there, one at each end of the moorings, if they had left them breasted there would have been over 70 foot of mooring free.
There are a couple of long spill weirs along the canal, as you can see this one has a raised walkway unlike the one near Congleton. It wasn’t far from here to our planned overnight mooring at the bottom of the Bosley Locks.
Since we have been here 6 or 7 boats have come down the flight, at the moment last entry into the flight is 1pm to clear the flight by 4pm but CRT are not putting padlocks on and at 5pm a boat has just entered to make their way to the top. Tomorrow the opening hours drop down to 3 days a week 0830hrs to 1300hrs.
