22 Feb Coventry Basin

Again the weather calmed down over night and this morning it was quite sunny first thing. A few boats went passed, the first very close making the rudder bounce hard, that was well before we were up. Needles to say as soon as we went to set off it stared to rain yet again, but this time it didn't last too long with the sun coming out as we got to Suttons Stop.
As you approach Hawkesbury there is a lot of earth moving work going on on the off side nearly opposite the Coventry Cruising club, a little further on, still on the offside the flood under one of the high voltage pylons is quite extensive again. The pond beneath one of the pylons is bigger than ever.DSCF6223

We arrived at the lock just as the boat that passed us a good half an hour before we left was locking through, as she left there was a boat waiting to come through towards us, once they were on their way it was our turn. The two boats ahead, traveling together turned down towards Coventry so we were a bit concerned there would be room to moor, but we passed them already moored up about a quarter of a mile along the cut.  I was surprised at the number of boats moored between the junction and the basin, it must have been at least a dozen.
It was good to the scaffolding has been removed from the front of Cash’s houses at last.DSCF6227  We had a good run down to the basin with no trips to the weed hatch, there were 5 boats here plus the ex working boat that's been here all year when we arrived, but the chap moored by the swing bridge was about to leave so we slipped into his spot as its one of the quietest. There is still room for another 3 boat, but no one else has turned up.
