Well a very unusual occurrence for us today, as we were at Sutton Cheney we decided on another cooked breakfast, it was a lovely sunny morning and we arrived at the café front doors half an hour before they opened, us too early for breakfast, but it was warm and sunny as we waited outside, it did mean we were first in, but only just.
Our plan for today was to go to the end and return to Shackerstone tomorrow evening to eat at the Rising Sun. Their web site was a Bit out of date so I messaged them to ask their opening hours. The reply I received was not what I wanted, it just said to ring them to book a table. In the light of this we decided to stop there tonight. When we moored up Diana walked up to book a table and a good job too, the restaurant is closed and they are only doing bar meals, so no bookings. If they had mentioned that when I contacted them we wouldn't have stopped here. So we are eating onboard again.
The day started very bright and sunny but soon clouded over and was a bit chilly, there were quite a few boats about and we met 5 altogether. Its good to see that the Ashby Canal Association have replaced the wooden signpost on the towpath, last time we passed this was laying on the ground
Last time we came through Market Bosworth, the land on the offside opposite the water point just had an anti amphibian/mammal barrier around it. I did an Internet search and discovered https://owlhomes.co.uk/coming-soon/king-richards-wharf-market-bosworth had planning consent to build homes on it. Today they were hard at work with earth moving equipment, it's quite a narrow piece of land between the canal and the railway with quite a large pond at the North end and a stream running from the direction of the railway to the canal. I suspect the gardens won't require much watering.
